When running an archive on a mail file using the -a option, the archiving takes place, but the docs in the
original database are not cleaned up by deleting the docs
and compacting the database…
I do have the rights to delete, and so does the server.
Any ideas on this appreciated. Thanks.

We had this problem 2 years ago on a certain number of mail files.1- Check in your log if there are any errors about archiving and/or compacting the concerned files
2- Are all the original messages still in the mail file?
If yes, then try this:
delete the archive file
delete the archive profile on the mail file
run a compact task
make a copy of your mail file to another directory
set the archive profile and setting on the new mail file
run compact -a -B on the new file
When successful, you can replace the original mail file by it’s copy

That did fix it on the ones that would not archive correctly, thanks. It was a strange occurance… most mail files would archive … but about 3 of them wouldn’t… go figure.
