My Notes 8.5.1 client (Revision 20090607.1230 (Build V851_06022009)) has an annoying problem on archive function:When I select one or more emails and then want to use “Archive Selected Documents” of “Archive” menu under “Actions”, the “Archive” menu do not show up if the selected email is under 2nd or lower level directory, but if the emails are in the 1st level directory(top level), the “Archive” menu shows up.
For example, in default “Folders”, I made some subdirectories to classify my emails as below:
Inbox
Sent
Folders
|
|—IBM
|
|—CDL
|
|—Tivoli
| |
| |–Level3
| |–team
|
|—Others
If the selected emails are in “IBM”,“CDL”,“Tivoli” or “Others” (1st level), the “Archive” menu shows up under “Action” menu.
But if the selected emails are in “Level3” or “team” directory (2nd level), “Archive” menu won’t show up under “Action” menu and then I can’t use its “Archive Selected Documents” function.
Anyone else does see the same issue above? Is there any work around to solve it? Thanks in advance.
Subject: Works fine here…Folder Design Might be the issue…
Hi Jackey,‘Archive Selected documents’ works fine for me for all the levels of folders.
I guess it might be because of the Folder design.
So try this, From the folder where you don’t see the Archive option select Actions → Folder → Upgrade Folder Design and choose Auto upgrade (or Manual upgrade to choose more folders).
Archive menu should appear after you do this if its because of Folder design.
Subject: I can’t see “Upgrade Folder Design” on problematic folders
Thanks for your tips. And I tried the steps you suggested, but it’s odd that when I selected the 2nd or higher level folders, I can’t find the “Upgrade Folder Design” menu under “Actions”->“Folder”, but when I selected the 1st level folder, I can see the “Upgrade Folder Design” shows up under “Actions->Folder”. So it must be some other reason I guess.
I have a manager with folders that go 4 layers deep. He is having the same issue. I have updated him to mail8.5 template and upgraded the folder design. I can archive from folders on the 1st and 2nd layer. Not after that.
