I have archive ariteria setup with option of Reduce the size of doucments in the application set to Remove attachment, leave summary.
I selected two documents with attachment and selected archive selected documents. Archive works great but these messages still have attachment on the mailfile eventhough they were archived. What gives? I have rebuilt the views as well.
Any thoughts on this please…
Thanks,
Wongo
Subject: Other archive option
You can try out our free Archive Solution evaluation version. With the solution you can determine exactly what happens with the content and how much data must be archived. http://www.lialis.com/Applications/EnglishSite.nsf/dx/Lialis_Archive_Solution
Subject: try zipmail
if your requirement is to reduce the size of your NSF then ZipMail is an option since it compresses already existing attachments.

Subject: larger vs smaller mesages?
I tried it on a 2.5MB message, and it worked. I tried it on a 15kb message, and it left the attachments. This is with “leave summary”, not “leave summary + 40kb”. So, it seems like it might have a size limit before it will do this?
Subject: larger vs smaller mesages?
Thanks Maria…I’ve tried larger attachment 7MB but still shows attachment even after archiving.Perhaps, my test server is jacked up…
Subject: only on MIME messages
The Archive Attachments and leave Summary works great for Notes messages, however it intermittently works/breaks on Internet mail.
I have not yet seen a pattern on which messages work.
For the messages that do not work, the message is archived but the full message is left in the inbox instead of just the summary.
Have tried both Summary +40kb and just Summary options with a 7mb attachment and neither pulled the attachment out of the inbox.
Subject: Sollution: It is a limitation of the software

Problem
In the IBM Lotus Domino criteria for archiving, to the question, “How do you want to clean up documents?”, you select “Reduce the size of documents” and “Remove attachments, leave summary”.
If you archive a document sent from an external Internet address, the document is still archived but its size is not reduced and it still contains attachments.
Some documents are left in the mail database with the Torn Page icon, indicating that they are truncated, with the subject line. Other documents are left as full documents. However, all documents do get archived to the archive database.
Cause
This situation occurs because MIME documents cannot be truncated.
Resolving the problem
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# ADEE7JXFXS and determined to be a software limitation.
Workaround
One possible workaround is to add another archive criteria to remove the documents and archive them to the archive db. Have the user run the first archive criteria to truncate documents that do not have MIME content. The user can then select any documents that do not have the torn page icon and run the second criteria to archive and remove them.
