Our users have two archives called New archive and Old archive. They access the old archive from Tools> Archive> Old Archive within the New Archive database. All our users have editor with delete rights to the New Archive but some can’t open up the Old Archive without having Manager and Delete rights on the New Archive database.
No error messages are given, the users just can’t see the Old Archive Link under the Tools>>Archive menu.
As we don’t want to give users Manager rights to their archive databases has anyone any idea as to why this is happening or have a solution for it?
Having never heard of an archive for an archive, I will assume this is all custom coded. I’m not sure we can do much more than ask questions, hoping to point you in the right direction. I would guess that whatever means you are using to navigate between new and old must be doing something that requres manager access. Check the code for the button. Is it trying to change the ACL or anything? Is it creating documents? Reading profile docs? Opening navigators? Are both databases on the same server?
Are the Old Archive messages archived from the New Archive Database? If yes, does this work? Is it a server policy or a local archive? I take it the New Archive policy works OK? The link is normally created when the archive is successful.
