Appendtext to rich text field on web = new window?

Hi,

I am trying to move a form that was previously used in the LN client to the web. I noticed that every time I run an agent to update a rich text field a new window is created instead of the current window being refreshed. Everything works, but I now have two IE windows open with the same form (one w/ the updated rich text and one without).

Is there a better way to do this? All I want to do is append the rich text field via my agent which is triggered by a hotspot (action menu selection/none). I am not the best w/ LS so I’m probably missing something.

Here is my test code:

Dim session As New NotesSession

Dim doc As notesdocument

Dim history As NotesRichTextItem

Set doc = session.DocumentContext

Set history = doc.GetFirstItem("history")

Call history.AppendText("blah")

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m not the least bit clear how your code could have anything to do with windows on the web. Where is this run, from what event and in what context after what actions? I am pretty sure the answers you seek are contained in the answers to those questions.

Thanks for the reply Ben. Sorry for not posting that first, I should have thought of that…

So, I have a form which has an action hotspot. The hotspot runs: @Command([RunAgent];“<My Agent”>)

The Agent contains the code listed in my first post.

Here are the agent properties:

Shared

Trigger On Event

Action Menu Selection

None

I do not have “run as web user” checked

My Rich Text (History) field is set to display as a Java Applet.

I’m simply running the form from the web and clicking on my hotspot link. It then opens a new IE window and updates the rich text field.

Any Ideas?

It appears that my hotspot was trying to open in a frame, because I was testing the form outside of the frameset, it was opening a new window.

Thanks for the help Ben, you were 100% correct. I wish there was a place that gave detailed expected behaviors for everything Lotus. I’m usually thrown off by not knowing what the expected behavior should be for a given situation…

Thanks again for you help.
