Hi
Is this possible. My user has requested a table for logging comments…currently on cards! There is no limit and some customers have 6 cards. Have searched forum with not much luck. Is it possible to append a row to a table and assign new fields automatically? I am sure not but just wanted to check if anyone had any suggestions.
Thanks.

It depends on what exactly you mean. The NotesRichTextTable class will allow you to append a row to a table in a rich text field and set values in the cells. If that is what you want, there should be sample code in the Help db to get you going. The question is what you mean by “fields”. If you want new fields added inside the table cells, so you could have a rich text field or combo box or rdio button or whatever, the native classes won’t allow it. For that level of work, you would need to get a product such as our Midas Rich Text LSX, which will let you store the form in the document and then work with the stored form, creating fields as you like. We have a sample db on our samples page called the Form Design R5 sample, although it will work fine with ND6/6.5 as well, which shows how to do what you suggest.

HiThanks for the response. I dont think I am going to be able to achieve what I want using LotusScript. I basically want a button, on click, it appends 1 row and then creates two new text fields in two seperate columns…
The user is creating a call report and they are not really sure of the number of fields they will need.
Thanks.

You could do it, but only if your compny was alright with the cost.

Without being 100% sure, ND6 gives you alot more RT handling that before, and I know you can manupulate tables. Anyway, to do this even easier, you can create a table with lots of rows and lots of fields, and just use “hide when”. When “adding” a new row, you just manipulate hide/whens. Very often used. It takes some programming, but my experience is that this is much easier and trusty than handling with RT.
