SPR# JKUR7TY97B - Added the Notes.ini variable Pop3_List_Size_Estimate to allow the pop3 LIST command to no longer require a full cd to mime conversion.
POP3_List_Size_Estimation is new in 8.5.1FP2.
Is anybody using it?
This is the explanation we got from IBM.
- The values can be 1 or 0:
If 1, then POP3 will give an arbitrary value for the size of each message (c. 40K)
If 0, then POP3 will calculate the size of each message, which involves creation of about 3 tmp files.
- So there is significant saving by using the estimate…the downside is that the end user will have a false representation when actually downloading the message, e.g. says they have 10 messages to download; the user will be told there is 400K to download but it could in fact be 10M
