We are. Some days I don’t know which is worse… 6.5.3 or McAfee. ;)Anyway, I understand McAfee wasn’t at Lotusphere 2005 so I’m wondering if any other Dominoians are having issues and are happy with Groupshield. We are running a patched version of Groupshield and are somewhat stable right now, but I’m also interested in hearing how happy other folks are with Trend Micro (who wouldn’t give me a glow pin at Lotusphere 2004) and Symantec.
I think I’m still bitter from the desktop toolset “Nuts and Bolts” from NAI to compete with Norton which made me an expert at reinstalling Windows… From scratch…
Subject: Anyone using Groupshield 5.3 from McAfee and happy?
Had terrible luck with NAI on 6.5.2. NAI was patched and cobbled together. What was worse NAI support did not seem to be able to put all the pieces together. Gerald’s top picks…

Trend Micro

Symantec

Sharp stick in the eye

NAI
Having said that I still believe that using 2-3 different anti virus products are the way to ga, catch as catch can!

Just make sure you don’t use 2 different AV products at the same time, else they might start fighting eachother, and all viruses laugh at them fighting and pass happily through, I’ve seen that happen too

sorry I did not clarify…
say Trend at the firewall level, SAV on the server and NAI on the desktop.
Ya know, hedge your bets!

I agree. Currently, we use McAfee for desktop (VirusScan Enterprise) and also Groupshield. Our Threat and Vulnerability group has been making noises about using more than one product to keep from suffering the same vulnerability in all areas, meaning protect the desktop with McAfee and protect the mail with something else, etc.

I was positively surprised with McAfee Enterprise 8.0i on the workstations and Notes 6.5.3. When you install McAfee after you have installed Notes, it integrates into Notes, and when you open a document which has an attachment with a Virus, it removes it on the fly, so you see instead of the infected attachment a message that this attachment has been put in the quarentene folder, kinda nice imo. Sadly it doesn’t work with Notes7Beta2, but they’ll probably fix that in when Notes 7 goes gold.
Subject: This “on the fly thing” also means zero performance when
having slow server connections. for each and every document you open it fully downloads the attachment - that slows things down tremendiously…
i don’t like that…

glad to hear 8.0i is working. I think over the years that each anti virus products has had it’s peaks and valleys.
Now if we can just find where these !@#$%^&* indviduals live that create these viruses…
