Blackberry’s Tech Support states that running Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) 4.0 on Domino 7.0 is “not tested”. They could not tell me if they have heard of any customers running this configuration. Blackberry did, however, have a press release at Lotusphere 2005 that BES 4.0 would run on ND7.0.

FYI: They also state that BES 4.1 (in Jan 2006) will support Domino 7.0.

As seen in some of the other posts you will want to make sure that you install BES v4.0 SP3+.

Subject: Here’s the trick to install BES 4.0 on ND 7.0…
After spending an hour getting through Sprint’s tech support (our provider), they finally transferred me to RIM’s tech support, who knew what they were talking about.
The secret is to trick BES 4.0 into thinking the Domino is version 6. This is done by changing the version number in two places in the Windows registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lotus\Domino\Version
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lotus\Domino\1\Version
Change both of these DWord values from 7 to 6, perform the BES install and the SP3 install, then set the values back to 7.
This worked like a charm, and the BES server seems to be working just fine on ND 7.0 so far.

What if you are upgrading Domino 6 & BES 4.0.x server ?
I think after intalling SP3 on Domino 6 you can straight away upgrade server to 7 ??

I Have BES 4.0 running on Domino 7.01. I upgraded Domino from 6.5.4. BES seems to operate with no problems. I’ve been running on version 7 for about 4-5 months.
My problem that I have is I cannot upgrade my BES. When I try to apply a patch, I receive a message that the “notes.ini file can’t be found in domino folder”. It is there, BES upgrader just doesn’t recognize it. I am thinking the version in the notes.ini file needs to read “version 6”???
Anybody come across this issue?

So… by changing the HKLM|Software|Lotus|Domino|Version|7 to 6 allowed me to upgrade to 4.0.5.
However when I attempt to upgrade to BES 4.1 I get the message “Incompatible Versiondetected on system” and the upgrade fails.
I downloaded the 4.1 upgrade from BES website.
