I’d really like to get 6.5 running on an Opteron box and would like to run it on SUSE Linux 9.0 for AMD64(preferably) or SLES8 for AMD64. Anyone have any success? I know it’s not a supported OS version, but what the hell…

Haven’t tried it with SUSE Linux, but did install 2 Domino 6.5.4 clustered servers on machines with AMD Opteron 64-bit chips using RedHat Linux 3. Here’s my experience as a word of caution…
Domino worked well for a day, but after a custom Notes application was put on one of the servers it kept crashing with errors referring to the JVM and AMgr. Disabling AMGR would allow the server to be stable.
There is a KnowledgeBase technote that says Domino should work on a 64-bit chip if the chip was designed to be run 32-bit apps, but after working with Lotus Support and still having problems, the company moved the 2 Domino servers to machines that have 32-bit chips and no more crashing and the application works fine.
So, I’d recommend waiting until IBM/Lotus certifies specific chips before installing Domino on a 64-bit Linux box.
