We have plan to upgrading from 802 to 851 before the end of this year, but some server still stay on version 802. There’s about 25 domino servers in our company.
Are there any issue or problem that we need to know before upgrading such as replicate, template? After upgrading, we will use Daos and changing to new ods(53) for user’s mailfile too.
Suggestion about “Should do or Don’t” after upgrading.
In all cases, it is important that you follow the upgrade guidelines to ensure minimum feature loss with Mail and Calendaring & Scheduling.
Upgrade the Notes clients that administrators will use to edit and operate on the Domino Directory.
Upgrade the Domino Directory first (this is done by upgrading the Domino server that is the Administration Server of the Domino Directory to Domino 8.5 first).
Replicate the Domino Directory to the other servers.
Upgrade the Hub servers.
Upgrade the Mail servers.
Upgrade the SMTP servers.
Upgrade the Web servers.
Upgrade the Application servers.
Any third-party/companion product server (check for Notes/Domino Release 8.0 readiness).
Upgrade the general population of clients to Notes 8.5.
Replace the design of any databases/mail files with any new Notes/Domino Release 8.5 design changes last. For mail files, the Convert task should be used on the server to change the design of the mail file.
In terms of known-issues you should be aware of, there are no “show-stoppers” that I am aware of. As a suggestion, try to manage the Domino Environment so that Notes client versions (v851) match the Domino Server (v851), along with Mail-files using the latest Database Template (mail85.ntf). Details on upgrading the Design of Mail-files, along with the On-Disk Structure & other related items can be found within the Documentation referenced in the TechNotes above.
