I have heard through the “grapevine” that the signature handling has been enhanced in the forthcoming release of 8.5.1.
I’d really like to know what the enhancements include before proceeding down the customization path, only to find my requirements have already been considered.
We are facing the same situation as many others out there - We have a central signature management system that creates a highly customized HTML file for each user when they log in, and drops that onto their local client. Thereafter, if their details or the corporate design changes, those changes are automatically reflected in their personal HTML signature file.
Before even thinking of heading in that direction, I’d sure like to know if HTML files are going to be supported (and if so, how they will be handled) in the upcoming release.
We normally don’t post any marketing in this forum, but I thought you may be interested in the new features of Crossware Mail Signature. Besides the possibility of a central controlled signature / discalimer our new version which is currently in beta uses a server task to generate Rich Text signatures and add them to the users CalendarProfile for 8.5 Mail Templates. It will also add a HTML Signature for DWA Clients and plain text signature for Blackberrry Devices. For older clients it can generate a HTML File and email it to the user.
Thanks Per - I have seen your product at Lotus functions here in Sydney.
I thought it may be what we were looking for, but the solution we implemented in the end was highly customized, and tightly integrated with several proprietary CRM-type systems here (extracts personal information from several systems and consolidates it into an HTML signature).
Not sure when you saw Crossware Mail Signature in Sydney but the latest releases contains a lot of features that allow you to define your own look up virtually in any Notes database that is available. In fact we have integrated with a number of CRM systems including our own to be able to customise an advertisement text that is dependent on the recipients interest as defined in a CRM system.
If you want an update I’m happy to give you a demo on Sametime, just give me a call +6493797044 or email per@crossware.co.nz
Yes, we have added a new capability in 8.5.1 to use either the text or HTML signature instead of the new Rich Text signature. To enable this feature download the CD8 kit, upgrade your mail file to the CD8 mail template, and then set the following INI: $SignatureOptionEnabled=1. With this INI enabled you should see the following in mail preferences:
I installed the CD8 client, and reviewed the mail template. Didn’t see anything like your screenshot.
So, I upgraded a development server to CD8 (thinking maybe the new template was only server-based), and couldn’t find the fields in your screenshot there either.
