Any chance to show the number of unread docs

… at the outline entry for a “foreign database folder”?

I have enlarged the NotesMailOutline of our mail template with a few folder entries of a mail-in database (fax, company intern infos etc.). Is there any chance/trick to show at these outline entries also the number of the unread docs in the linked folders (like inbox or any other folders of the mail database)?

The unread message count only works on folders within the same database as the one you are accessing.

Yes - that is exactly the drawback…

and I’m really looking for a good work around - cause my guys want to (and had to!) see at once when sth new has arrived in these folders.

it would be really great if anyone could help with an idea.

thanks in advance

Subject: What about subscriptions ?

That way you will see the new docs in a few minutes (half the time specified in “check for new mail every x minutes”).

P>fine idea… never used them before… now I tried to:

Few problems:

  • I could not place it steadily on the Welcome Page (if I close/reopen the page or the client, it is replaced by the "everyday tasks").
  • It stops refreshing the content with different error messages:
    - e.g. Retrying: Monitor has already been registered, no action taken.
    - or File not found (maybe because I started the client once without conneciton to the server, but later again, with server connection: no change).

Do I understand the subscription feature wrong? I thought that I have to install such a subscription entry, and then I looks for news twice as much as for new mail = every 3 minutes. Do you work successfully with subscription?

Subject: They work for me.

I don’t have a welcome page; still use the workspace. The subscription results also show in the status bar; briefly of course: until the next message.I never saw any error messages, but sometimes the database icons in front of the outline entries would disappear (on mouseover).

  1. Open a database you want to monitor.

  2. From the menu: Create-Subscription.

  3. Fill out the form and save.

You can also “Check subscriptions” on startup (in File-Preferences-User Preferences).

Check the Help for more info.
