I have a web notes database. The goal is to navigate on the web notes database without installing Notes Client and use most of the great potencial of Lotus Script.
I have a web form with one button that has the following javascript:
var s = new ActiveXObject(“Notes.NotesSession”)
var db = s.GetDatabase(“arm/armsi”,“SBUIlDER/sb_reg.nsf”);
var doc = db.GetDocumentByUNID(“43CBF2404A3FF87480256FAF006A8149”);
doc.fieldname=“value to be one the field”;
doc.save(true,false);
This works fine on a computer with Lotus Notes Client installed. For a very obvious reasons this doesn’t work in a computer without Lotus Notes Client. My chalange is to make it work on a computer without Lotus Notes Client without installing it. I’m hoping someone could help me on my challange, telling me some guides to achive it, or telling me “no way”.
I think this is possible to achive, because, if i develop, for exemple, an application on VB that only sends emails using Lotus Notes i shouldn’t have to install the client. But this is me thinking.
Best Reagards and thank you in advance… and goodspeed you, me and everyone that help me on my quest.

No, if you have a VB application that sends mail through Notes you absolutely DO have to have the client installed (or run the app on the server, which is the same thing).
However, if you’re working in Domino on the web, why not simply use an HTML form and a proper Domino URL to save your changes? What’s up with ActiveX?

This is little bit dificult to explain why not simply use an HTML form…
The code i posted was just an example.
This is simple version of my story:
- I have the HTML outside the form(for many reasons), and the HTLM is loaded every time the form is loaded. The fields that user see are build in the HTML(outside the form).
When i save the document i put the values of the HTML fields in the Notes fields(using Notes Agents). But this is only possible if the form is submited(after that, reloaded).
I’m trying to eliminate the reloading, using javascript to grab the values on HTML fields and save it on Notes field, and don’t use the submit (and after that, the reload).
To do this I use the ActiveX on javascript.
Best Regards

If you use ActiveX, you need to have Notes installed. It’s as simple as that. It appears, though, that you have never heard of DHTML or AJAX. If you can run JavaScript in the browser, you never need to submit the “current page” – you can create an
