An Open Question

Hello,

Can we use Notes User ID and password as a single sign-on for other non-Notes based applications.

I’ve a requirement wherein we have front end designed in Lotus Notes(web interface / client) and have links to different applications. All application use ID and password abd users have to type in their ID and password. So, I hvae to bypass this layer and get into the application without prompting for Login.

Now, I want help form all you Notes gurus that if they have come accross this situation and what could be the possiblw solution for it.

Thanks in advance

Tom

Tom,

Is this in the client as well or just on the web?

If you are trying to open non notes based resources, through a notes interface and those resources require separate authentication to their native formats with different login IDs and passwords to access those systems this is NOT POSSIBLE.

It is not possible to bypass ordinary native application securities simply by providing a different enterface to enter them through. This would be a serious security flaw, don’t you think?

If you are referring to single sign on for Quickplace, Sametime, Email, and Domino based apps and Lotus Client apps, then this is doable.

Can you calrify for us?

If the systems are all different (non lotus) you will need to look into purchasing a Single Sign On Product…do a search on SSO and there are many products.

If by happenstance all the apps you refer to are web based and you have code cntrol and security decisions on all of them, then you could write a cookie to authenticate them if they come from an authenticated session in Domino…but you would have to adjust other security settings in those apps as well…
