AMgr: Another Agent Manager detected on the system, only one allowed

We have just installed 6.5.3 FP1 on an existing Domino server running Windows 2000 Server. This was done as a new install, not an upgrade.

We are seeing the above error appear on server startup. There is no other Agent Manager started.

Does anyone know what the cause could be?

Thanks

This usually happen when someone started a client on the same machine as the server, and has locally scheduled agents enabled.

The first time we brought the server up we did not start the client. However we have now done a reboot and this problem has been resolved.

We now have a new puzzle. We have run the command set conf server_restricted=2 and restarted the server. We’re still seeing users on the server. This normally works without problems. Do you know what is going on here?

I don’t think value of 2 is defined.I see only definition for 0 and 1.

What do you expect “2” to do?

SERVER_RESTRICTED={0|1}

This variable can be used to enable (1) or disable (0) the restricted access mode to a server, whether or not the server is particpating in a cluster. This setting overrides any current load balancing in effect, if any, on the server. The default setting is 0 if the variable is not defined.

Sorry for the delay. I got bogged down in other things.

We tried using 1, but people continued to access the server. According to the help 2 is supposed to persistently restrict the server even after a restart. We still had users accessing the server.

See help text below.

Use the following values to set this variable:

0 - Server access is unrestricted

1 - Server access is restricted for the current server session. Restarting the server clears the setting.

2 - Server access is restricted persistently, even after server restarts

Thank you
