Ambiguous name dialog box upon sending to internal recipient

User1User2

User3

User4

are all users within the Domino directory.

User1

User2

User3

User4

are also within the senders’ personal contacts (cell phone only) and all users are configured the same within the contacts (just a name and a cell phone)

Neither of the users1-4 above are in the “Recent contacts” list.

When the sender composes an email to either user1 or user2, the “TO” line reads as it should:

User1/Domain

But upon hitting the Send button the ambiguous name dialog box appears giving the choices of:

User1/Domain

User1@domain.com

When the sender composes an email to either user3 or user4, the “TO” line reads as it should:

User3/Domain

Upon hitting the Send button the the email goes out just fine (sans the ambiguous name dialog).

Always the same for User1/User2 (not good) and User3/User4 (good)

any ideas why?

TIA,

-MC

Subject: “Ambiguous name” dialog box upon sending to internal recipient solved

There are only 3 places which names are pulled from (in an R8 client)- The Domain directory

  • The “My Contacts” view in the local NAB

  • The “Recent Contacts” view in the local NAB

Once the Domain directory and “My contacts” view have been examined and determined to be kosher,

  • Make a backup copy of the local NAB

  • Delete all documents in the “Recent Contacts” view

  • Try again
