I quite often experience problems with servers crashing or hanging when GroupShield is active on a server.
Besides from the server crashes, I’ve seen a couple of times that the McafeeOAscan and McafeeODscan server tasks shuts down.
I’ve always been able to start the servertasks again, but of course have to find out that they are no longer running.
I haven’t contacted Lotus Support or NAI yet, but this will be my next step.

Hi Brian - Watch for the message “Unable to load olympus engine” after launching McafeeOAScan and ODscan. It sounds to me like your scan engine is out of date.

I had this problem with Groupshield 5.2.1 and Domino 6.5, the solution found with McAfee was:
in notes.ini is thus: ServerTasks=Replica,Router,Update,AMgr,Adminp,Sched,CalConn,GSDConfig,GSDOAScan,GSDODScan,GSDUpdate,GSDReport,Stats,POP3,Event,HTTP,LDAP
delete On-Access’ document (however it is activated, if you clicks in the button Change On-Access will be On lets thus)
disable On-Demand
Sever Settings added all of these programs NADMINP, NAMGR, NCALCONN, NEVENT, NREPLICA, NROUTER, NSCHED, NSTATS, NUPDATE, NCOMPACT, NFIXUP, POP3, LDAP, NTBACKUP.EXE, Backup Lotus Notes.job, Backup.bkf
I created content rules to increase it security.

We had a lot of trouble in prior versions. Virus scanners can be killers. Oftentimes, the answer is make sure you have the latest GS version available.

I’m having the same problems. Reporter stopping after running about 1 day. McafeeOAScan also stopping sporadic. No error logging and Domino-server running fine.I’m using Domino R6.5.1 & GroupShield V5.3.
