During our last upgrade to 7.0.3 we used the AllClients package to upgrade users. Even though the AllClients package was used, the users do NOT have designer or administrator installed. In the users person document under ‘client information’ it states they have designer and administrator even though its not installed. Now we want to upgrade to 8.5 and want to do it the right way and install the client only. When I try the upgrade I get the message:
Cannot upgrade AllClient installation to Notes Client. The upgrade you are attempting is not supported.
Is there a way to bypass this message and still do the upgrade without uninstalling the client and installing again? I would like to use Smartupgrade and not visit the users.
Subject: Please open a PMR on this…
Getting Customer Weight behind this request will greatly influence the weight of getting it fixed and supported in a future MR. All other customers who need this upgrade path should open a PMR as well.

this adds to the last part of yesterdays call (I know you have an idea what I am talking about, even if it was not exactly me and you.).
By the time strange that problems with installation obviously experienced by a lot of people would need to go thru this process.
Subject: AllClient to Client only upgrade
I did some playing around and discovered if you change the InstallType=2 to InstallType=6 in the users notes.ini the upgrade works. I even tried SmartUpgrade with this change and it works.
