Alarms are not including sound option at new Cal entry creation

IBM Lotus Notes 8.5Release 8.5.3FP5

Revision 20130802.1125-FP5 (Release 8.5.3)

Standard Configuration

I am having an issue with the Notes client Alarm setup. I have the notes settings configured to set an alarm by default on calendar entries, and I have an alarm sound selected and tested on the configuration/settings screen. When I create a new event or meeting, the alarm option is checked on the new entry, but when I open and look at the settings for the alarm, the sound alarm option is not checked. If I set/check it at this point, it does go off and sounds the beep. But from what I have read, and how it worked on my Windows XP box, any new meetings and events should be defaulted with alarms that include sound.

Subject: Alarm sounds are a client specific setting, not per event

There should not be a field added to each event on your calendar, rather a Notes.ini setting of “Meeting Alert Sound” should be set and include the name of the wav sound you chose in your calendar preferences. If you have not set the sound in preferences and/or the Notes.ini setting is missing you may not hear the sound you are expecting.

Subject: Prefs are set…just not used at new entry

The preferences have been set, and the sound tested. It just doesn’t seem to want to use the sound (and be checked to include sound) when a new entry is made. It worked on my windows install. Following the migration to a linux machines (where the number of sound/wav files available changed) it has not been working.

Again, if I manually set or check the sound option in the new entry, it all works so it is finding the sound file.

Incoming mail sounds as expected, and they are pointing at the same sound file.
