I have an agent which has to run on the domino server (for various reasons) and accesses Excel via OLE. It is called from a second agent which is run on the client.
So, the client agent has:
set svrAg = db.getAgent(“ServerAgent”)
svrAg.runOnServer
ServerAgent contains:
set xlApp = createObject(“Excel.Application”)
…
Call xlApp.quit()
set xlApp = nothing
this works fine when the database is on local. If the database is on a server, it runs fine once. After that, the createObject throws a “Cannot Create Automation Object” error. The only to make it run again is to restart domino.
The same applies using a Word OLE object.
If I call the server agent from a browser, it works fine everytime.
Does anyone have any ideas what’s going on? I’m thinking I’ll be needing to re-code the client agent to fire HTTP requests, rather than running the agent directly, but just hoping someone has a pearl of wisdom.
