Agent run on foreign servers

I have read in this forum that it is not possible to run an agent from one server to another unless Java is used:

I have a LS Agent on Server A that is triggered via “WebQuerySave” and do some processing with the document that has been submitted. But at the same time, I need to copy that document into another database that is on server B.

I have managed that alright.

The problem is that on the top of all this, I also need to run an agent on that document created on server B, using an agent (Libraries) that are on the database on server B. This cannot be delayed.

I have not much experience with Java and would like to know if what I am trying to accomplish is even possible.

Thanks,

Serge

LS agents can run across servers as long as the servers TRUST each other. This is a big deal, however, so you should read up on Trusted Servers to decide if there are risks that outweigh the gain in having the agent run across servers.

Raphael,

Thanks for you comment, but

the server B trusts the server A. This part is okay. If there is no trust between the servers, you get the following error when opening a database on server B from within an agent on server A.

Error:

To open database (serberBname!!dev\databaseName.nsf) on remote machines the server where the agent is running has to be listed by remote machine as trusted server.

If you look at the posting authored by Julie Kadashevich (agent expert at Lotus/IBM), you will see that only Java agent can be run across servers.
