One of my 6.0.3 servers becomes very sluggish at times. I’ve noticed at each occurrence that Agent Manager executive 1 is displaying the message “Processing messages from the manager”. This condition remains long past the 10 minutes limit for LS/Java agents, and the agent manager will not quit. In the R5 forum Julie K mentioned this message in relation to agent debugging, but my AMgr: Current debug control setting is ’ ’ . I recently upgraded this server from 6.0.2c and don;t recall seeing the message before the upgrade. Anyone seen anything like this? Thanks.

This is not a new messages and that code has not changed in many many years. This is just part of normal execution and it is not an indication of anything troublessome (if fact if this did not happen, no agents would run). I am looking at the code now and it is not wrapped in any debug conditions.

Julie, you’re the best! Thanks for taking the time to look into this for me. It sounds like I would see this message “Agent Manager Executive ‘4’: Processing messages from the Manager”
at other times too if I happened to catch it at the right time.
I did have one other agent that was active at this last incident, so I need to focus on whether it is also running when the next hang occurs.
