When I recieve an email and either open it to reply to it or just click on the message from the inbox and reply, after I reply the message appears in my inbox as unread mail.
The message will not change black like I’ve opened the message it stays red in my inbox.

When you reply to, or forward, an e-mail, the properties of the document get updated with that information (hence the ability to display the little icon showing that you forwarded or replied to a message).This is the “unread” part. It should change to black color if you open it again.
To change this behavior, go to the properties of the database, and check the “do not mark modified documents as unread” option. This will prevent the forwarded or replied to messages from appearing as unread.
