After fp4 installed, body of message is blank on external email

I have applied FP4 on a few users systems and have had issues on two clients that I updated. After the update, the user indicated that they would receive an external email and when they opened it, there was nothing in the body of the message. However, when they forward or replied to the message (with history), the body of the message would show up.

This does not happen with internal email.

Anybody else having this problem and if so, with is the resolution.

Subject: Samething here

We have the same thing here. For now i am doing the following.

  • Preferences

  • Basic notes client config

  • additional options

  • make sure “Disable embedded browser for mime mail” is checked.

  • restarted notes, and no more issue.

Well with that anyhow.

dont think its a fix, just a work around.

Subject: solved . .

File> Preferences> Basic Notes Client Preferences area > AdditionalOptions> Disable Embedded Browser for MIME mail.

Check the preference ’

Disable embedded browser for MIME mail in the additional preferences area,

Make sure that this is selected.

This worked so far.

Hope this does it for you.

Subject: thanks Clifton

Would be nice to know why this became a problem in FP4.I had a database that was doing this and I created a new mail database on the server and move the email over to the new database and the problem went away. I did not have to select the setting in the preferences.

Very interesting.

Thanks again for the quick post.

Subject: It’s been happening in earlier releases…

for us. Don’t remember exactly what release, but it started for us in 8.5. No idea why it happens, but disabling the embedded browser has been the only way to fix it that I know of.

Subject: Same here with French mailfile

Same problem with French mailfile.

Check and unchecked the option resolved the problem.

Just a workaround…

Thanks

Subject: Re: after fp4 installed, body of message is blank on external email

Same problem here on all users with FP4. The MIME/Browser setting change in preferences fixes it. I applied an ini policy setting to change this for all users with FP4.

FP4 also causes for us a consistent issue on Vista where the Spell Checker dialog box is hidden or appears behind the window you are spell-checking, and the user has to hit “esc” in order to free up Notes because the spell checker is waiting for a response, but the user can’t see it.

I stopped rolling out FP4 except in cases where the user was having other stability issues. It causes more problems that the FP1 that we were running.
