Advice: Which programming languages should I learn?

Hi,

I’m going to sent on programming training. Which languages are the most relevant for Domino/Workplace and are likely to be used in the future.

I have some Lotusscript and VB experience.

For Domin oobviously Lotusscript is the way forward, so I would urge you to bring your existing skills well up scratch on that front. With regards ongoing Domino development, and then moving into Workplace, Java is your best bet. Good on-line resources for Java learning include:

And also courses on developing servlets and JSPs that work with Domino.

I imagine that Java is going to become increasingly relevant and will always be versatile and useful beyond as well as within Notes, but LotusScript will remain vital until Java gets front-end classes, so either would be good. Also strongly consider technologies that fall short of being programming languages as such. As integration becomes more important, I think XML would be a very good thing to pick up, as well as skills with relational databases.
