Advice - Web App Development 8.5.1

For those Lotus Notes Developers who are experienced at making Lotus Notes applications available on the web, I have some questions:

We have lots of experience in Lotus Notes development, including some LotusScript experience. We have lots of databases which were all designed to be used in the Notes Client. Now we want to begin using some of these databases on the Internet, and have no experience with web development.

We do have some $ available for training and have looked for available classes. We note there is a class called “Building Web Applications with IBM Lotus Domino Designer 8.” But there is no equivalent for Notes 8.5. We do however see some Xpages classes for 8.5. Where would you suggest we start with our training? Do we go directly to Xpages, or do we start with the “Building Web Apps w/ Designer 8?” Or are there other/better options?

We’d really appreciate the response of some expierienced developers. Thanks.

Subject: TLCC has classes

We have several classes you would be interested in:

To start with classic (Not XPages) web development see:

And for using LotusScript in web apps see:

And for JavaScript skills:

And if you would rather use XPages for the web apps (which is suggested…) see

Subject: Xpages Training

Matt White has put together a training site for XPages, that would make a good starting point. It’s moderate in cost: http://xpages101.net/

Of course going to Lotusphere isn’t a bad idea either.
