We have a situation where four different people need to create a weekly report for review by their supervisor. No one should have access to view any of the others reports. The ideal situation would be to setup a view for the supervisor where he could open one document for every week that would display the information recorded by the staff based on a specified end date, which would be every Friday. I am wondering what would be the best way to accomplish something like this.
Subject: Advice on setting up form/view
There are so many ways to do various things that would sound just like what you need… where to start?
First make sure to add reader fields to all documents, and to create a role for the supervisor so that he can be sure to have read access to all the documents. (Let me know if you need help with that part).
Second, you can create one view to display all documents categorized by week. That way you only open that category to see the 4 documents to approve.
Or, you could create an approval document which will lookup the 4 document’s data for a given week.
Or you could create a form to visualize the 4 documents and use a dialogbox and some script to use it as an interface…
It all depends on:
-
What do you want to do?
-
Why do you want it that way? how will it help your client perform his job in a more efficient way?
-
How much $ or how much development time / solutions complexity he is ready tio pay for? (are complex solutions actually WORTH the effort? …for instance if the interface will be used by 3000 people every day, you’d better invest in a really sharp intuitive interface. If only one person will use it once very week, perhaps a less expensive investement would be in order).
Good luck ![]()
