Adsync

Currently I am experimenting with ADSync. I have successful instaled the snap-in and created some test policies. However when I create a new user in AD, the user registration fails with a error message “no Mail server or mail file name specified”.

Also when I create a user in Domino, the domino user is created but not pushed to AD.

I am pretty sure that it has to do with one of my policies but I can not find a field referencing a mail file naming convenstion.

TIA

'No mail server or mail database name specified’You need to specify a mail server in the registration settings of the policy specified. Mail database name is FILastname.

when I create a user in Domino, the domino user is created but not pushed to AD.

Did you choose AD settings on the ‘Other’ pane of the ‘Register Person’ dialog in the admin client?

Hi, David,

I got the same error message, too. So I am very interested in knowing that how to specify the mail server in the registration settings. Do we specify it through Domino Administrator?

Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.

Thank you for responding

I will check again in the registration settings document once again, maybe I overlooked it.

I completely missed the “Windows blah” buttonon the advanced tab during registration.

I also noticied that the AdSync process did not work until I created the Windows Password Password Database. I did not read that in the Red Book but maybe it was just me being impatient

Is it possible that more than one registration policy is being applied. You should check to make sure that the ‘effective’ policy for the new users has a mail server Policy settings can be inherited, enforced, etc. The policy synopsis tool can tell you if you have a mail server once all polices are assigned.

Hi Dave, I was thinking if we can modify the and make sure the mail database name always follows the “ÄDLogonName.nsf” convention?

POssiblr?
