My company just upgraded to version 7 client. Can I use version 7 administrator/designer with my R5 database?

This is no problem. I work with R5 Dbs (ODS41…) all the time and manage using the V7 Admin client and Designer. The important part is that your clients are V7. I have encountered some people using V7 Designer clients while older clients (e.g. V5) are in use. This is fine UNLESS unsupprted classes are used.
