Admin questions - Administration Requests

While checking on an ACL question (I had added a name to a group but that person could still not get into that database) in Help, I found information on Administration Requests. We are at Domino 6.0 on an iSeries (this is our one and only Domino server). I noticed Help said “Administration Requests (R6)” and our database is “Administration Requests (R5)” with a template name of StdR4AdminRequests. Should the design of the database be replaced and, if so, with what template? Any caveats?

Secondly, while looking in the Admin Requests database itself, I went to Pending Administrator Approval and saw a number of requests in there, all of which were “Approve Mail File Deletion” (tried to type in what it looks like, below). I tried issuing a “Tell adminp p all” at the server console but all of these items remained. I checked Administration Requests – All Errors by Server and All Errors by Date both of which were empty. How do I get rid of all of the “Approve Mail File Deletion” records or do they just stay there?

Thank you.

You have three different questions here so I’ll answer them in order:

  1. added a name to a group but that person could not get into the database.

You have two options when you add a person to a group which is in a database ACL:

a: Tell the user s/he’ll have access tomorrow

b: Flush the server cache by entering “dbcache flush” at the console and having the user reauthenticate with the server by either restarting Notes or clearing their password (F5).

  1. You can replace the design of the Administration Requests database but the template name it inherits from is historically incorrect for the version is it running. Rest assured the designer process should update it for you but you can do so manually for peace of mind. When you select the database, select ‘file - database - replace design’ and select the administration requests database. Don’t be surprised if the template isn’t different afterwards.

  2. "Approve Mail File Deletion” (tried to type in what it looks like, below). I tried issuing a “Tell adminp p all” at the server console but all of these items remained.

For each one pending approval, double-click on the document to place it into edit mode and you’ll see two action buttons, approve or deny. The approvals need to be done consistently since they are purged after 30 days. If this happens, you’ll end up with a bunch of orphan mail files in your directory.

Hope this information helps. =)

PS: Loving me that Domino on the iSeries!!!

Subject: Thanks!

User could get into the database today. Overnight wait worked.

I assumed that since the status of the pending requests were “Approve Mail File Deletion” that the “Approve Mail File Deletion” button had already been selected thus changing its status to match the button. Some of these pending items were 2 years old! Thanks for letting me know that the button had yet to be pressed. It cleared them out… finally!

No wonder “Tell Adminp Process All” didn’t work.

I did a design refresh on the Admin Requests database. You are very right - the template name is out of synch (StdR4…) with the latest release. The database name is still “Administration Requests (R5)” which doesn’t jive with the Help file but, based on what you said, I’m guessing the database design is the latest.

THANKS!!!

I’m not an AdminP expert, but…

I’ve found when you add people to Groups, those people must exit Notes, then restart to gain access to Db’s whose ACL includes Groups… that shouldn’t have anything to do with AdminP

For Mail File Deletes, you must open the AdminP request (assuming you are the Admin) - then Approve the deletion, then either “TELL ADMINP PROCESS ALL” - or wait until ADMINP runs on its own.

In any event, the jobs may queue and results may not show up immediatiely if the server is busy doing other stuff…
