Admin newby: setting up a development environment

Hi

This week I have to setup a dev environment for my company. They have

installed windows 2000 on a machine and placed the machine in the

network. This machine is only reachable from within the network ( thus not from the internet). Now I want to install multiple servers on the machine. All

machines should be running seperately, have their own internet

hostname( mainly to reach the domino application on the server from

inside the network) and their own ipaddress(internal from the

network).

Is there somewhere ( online) a handy manual how to setup this kind of

environment? Or can someone help me with some handy tips?

Regards

Consider using virtual machine software - allows you to mix and match operating systems and Domino versions on a single piece of hardware. Easy to stop, pause, and take snapshots of each virtual machines. And, VMWare Server is free!

There are other versions from VMWare that are not free and contain more features. Also, there are other VM products, but I’ve used VMWare very successfully.

Hi Harry,

Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with a manual focused on a configuration as you have described. I have found some documentation that I feel you will find helpful as you proceed:

  1. Partitioned Servers (http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/domhelp/v8r0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.help.domino80x.doc/DOC/H_PARTITIONED_SERVERS_OVER.html)

  2. Multiple Addresses with a Single NIC (topic=/com.ibm.help.domino80x.doc/DOC/H_ASSIGNING_SEPARATE_IP_ADDRESSES_TO_PARTITIONED_SERVERS_WITH_A_SINGLE_NIC_STEPS.html)

I hope this information helps!

Hi

i have installed 2 server, both as partitioned servers. I have setup the first server as the first server. That went fine. I started the setup of the second server and marked it as an additional server. On the next window I saw the message that prior to setup this additional server needs to be registered in the domain-wide domino directory first. I have opened the administrator client and opened the first server to register the second. But I don´t know where to do this.

Can someone tell me where to register the second server in order to do the setup of the second server?
