Admin Move for Large Number of Users

I have been using the the admin process “move to another server” to migrate my users from an old 5.x server to a new 6.5.4 server.

So far the experience has been good. My question is whether anyone has had any problems using >100 users at a time with this process. I have been moving them in groups of ~100 users. But ideally I would like to move up to 500 users over a weekend. Any problems experienced? (barring those associated with network and server hardware)

Should not be an issue, but I would still submit them in smallish chunks (~100 users), one after the other. We also increased the number of adminp threads and decreased the freq from the 60 mins default (Admin hub as well as both mail servers). Otherwise, you may find a backlog of adminp requests, especially when the users all come back on Monday. We also created a connection doc (for just the MAIL subdirectory) between the two mail servers as we found users still use the old server until the replica delete gets approved and there ends up being sent mail that never gets over to the new server.

Remember the adminp traffic keeps going after the user logs in after the weekend, so leave the connection docs and adminp threads there until all the workstations have been updated with the new location doc settings, new bookmarks and the old DB icon is removed.

We’ve been fine with 100 user move per night but got problem with 500 move over the weekend

The initial adminp traffice is surely taken care of over the weekend, but the next Monday there’s huge traffic jump for those user’s intial handshake with their new home servers. Hopefuly you won’t have broad network bandwith support!
