I recently installed 8.5.1 (Notes, Designer, Admin) and when I click the Admin icon, I get the same message:
"No default domain found:
Please set your Administrator Preferences to the domains you want to manage"
I found this in the help:
https://infocenters.lotus.com/domino/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.help.domino.admin85.doc/H_SETTING_BASICS_PREFERENCES_STEPS.html
But, if I cannot open the Admin client, how do I set the preferences? A notes.ini setting?
Thanks!
Subject: Changed notes.ini settings, no luck
I went through my notes.ini and found a few entries;AdminLastDomain
AdminSetup
but they had values associated with them and when I changed them, still got the same error.
Any help would be great — lost on this one…
Thanks!
Subject: No default domain found. Please set your administration preferences…’ after install
Is there a solution to this problem? I am having the same issue. I am using the Notes clients on Windows 7. Is the Admin client supported on Windows 7?
Subject: Found a fix
If you install the client using the client only installer, then go back and installed the designer and admin using the client/admin/dev installer, you get this error when starting the admin client.
If you look in the add/remove program listing, you may see two ‘Lotus Notes’ entries. Try and uninstall the ‘client only’ first, then the admin/dev stuff. I failed to do this (and I’m not sure you actually can, but you should try) and I got into a mess. In order to get out, I:
Reinstalled the client/admin/dev software
Used the IBM ‘setup’ routine to remove them
Did an add/remove to delete the remaining Lotus Notes app - this failed but the entry disappeared.
Deleted the ‘IBM’ directory tree.
Reinstalled using the client/admin/dev installer into a completely different directory.
Started the client and completed the initial setup.
Now, the admin client comes up I got an error that there was not default domain but it connected to the admin server and from there I could set my admin preferences.
