Addressbook problem

Hi,We have a Domino Server 6.5.4 running on RH 3.0. We have a second addressbook running on the server. When adding this addressbook to the client in mail properties (something like !!Server_name/names2.nsf), everytime i create a new mail, a new connection is opened in domino server and this connection remain open forever. The only way to disconnect it, is to drop manually the connection.

Letting this connections open will slow down the server dramatically when increasing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I’d suggest moving to Directory Assistance for accessing the secondary address book instead of cascading it via the local client preferences.

Another option which would reduce the server load would be to replicate the secondary address book to the local clients and have the client preferences reference the local file. Server load would be reduced to the scheduled replication of the database as all name lookups against the address book would occur locally.

Thanks for helping. I’ll try to fix it through directory assistance, otherwise i’ll move the other addressbook to local.Best regards.

If you go that route (useful for offline addressing), read up on (mobile/condensed) directory catalogs. Pointers can be found in the “Domino Directory FAQ” (google it)

FYI - If anyone’s going to Lotusphere, Josh and I will be going over Directory Assistance in general (and to LDAP/Active Directory in particular) in ID107: Getting Started With Active Directory Integration
