I was wondering if there was a way to change the order of the lookups when you are composing an email? What I am referring to is that in 7, the domino directory was the first place the type-ahead looked at and now it is the recent contacts, then the personal address book, then the domino directory.
Is there a way to set that order? If not, can that be included in 8.5?
Subject: I second the motion - address lookup order in emails — reverse the order of the lookup?
I have a samilar request from my user community. Except they would like to have an option to ONLY search the Server address book (Domino Directory). Though I think they would be happy if we had an option to search the server address book first.
We have a lot of users who would like the same option: Server first then local addressbook or just Server only. I really wonder why IBM never made that option…
Subject: same here - recent contacts are causing us problems
I have users who want to use recent contacts, but because of the way our voicemail server works, internal users often get associated with bad addresses. In other words,
in company Domino Directory, user is shown as “Mike Smith/Central/Acme”
when Mike Smith leaves me a voicemail, I receive an email from the VM system with the return address showing as "Mike Smith 87y2347@voicemailserver.acme.com
So, Mike’s valid email address in the Domino Directory gets usurped by the one that Recent Contacts collects from the email message. I suggest that the user have any one of the following options:
Address lookup against Domino Directory only (switchable)
Set preference of lookup order (DD then local “full” contacts, then recent contacts)
Prompt user when common name matches against Domino Directory whether or not to collect this address.
Just my two cents… we’re answering a LOT of help desk calls on this one.
