Address Book

Hi,

An easy one for you as Im a noob…

I had problems with notes client so I have reinstalled and am in the process of settign it up again.

The users address book is on the server and I can access it by file/open databse and browsing to it…

I can then create a local replica for it…

But how do I make it available in the default address book location. Currently all that is there is “local” with nothing in it??

Thanks in advance

The way we do this is to close Notes on the client machine and do file copy of the user’s address book from the server and paste it into the Data directory on the client, making sure the pasted copy is called names.nsf. You’ll have to overwrite a names.nsf which is already there, or delete it first.

By default, Notes looks for a file called names.nsf to use as the Local address book. If it is not there when you install notes, it creates a new, blank one for you.

Emily.

Thanks very much!!!

What exactly are you attempting to accomplish? A local copy of the Domain Directory or a local address book for the user? And if it is a local address book for the user, why have a copy on the server? (I know of reasons to do this, but from your posting that doesn’t seem to be the point.)

All the users have an address book on the server so they can access their contacts on their Blackberries…

All I am trying to do is for them to be able to access their address book which is on the server through clicking on the default “address book” icon in notes…

Does this make sense?

OK, if all you want to do is change the database that the icon on the bookmark bar points to, then what you have to do is remove the bookmark (right-click on the icon to get to the menu), then add it back, by dragging and dropping it back on the bookmark bar.
