Address Book Replica and Duplicate Entries

I’m running into a problem syncing the local address book on a Mac client running the Eclipse version of Notes to it’s replica on the Notes server, while both the local copy and replica have the same replication id they do not sync, also in Replication and Sync on the client it does not show however Synchronizing Contacts to the Mail file does and is working (could this be causing a issue)? Any ideas what may be causing the problem?

On another note is there a easy way to combine like contacts or remove duplicate entries in a address book?

Seems that we need more info to confirm the detail reproduce steps, thank you for provide more to following:

a>‘it’s replica on the Notes server’–> what this replica is, is it the default ‘server’s address book on server’ or a new replica of the’ local contact’ DB which is replicated onto the server?

b>What do you mean ‘both the local copy and replica have the same replication id’, please provide detail steps on this.

c>About ’ in Replication and Sync on the client it does not show however Synchronizing Contacts to the Mail file does and is working (could this be causing a issue)‘---->Lotus Notes/Preference/Contact, then check ‘Enable Synchronize contacts’ on the replication and sync tab…’, then you can see the process in ‘replication and sync…’ page.

Did you find a reason for this??? I am having the same issue but on the Windows XP clients. I have verified all of the rights on the names.nsf file and the rights in teh server document to allow replication. This process worked fine on R656 and from testing that I have done it works fine on the LN 8.5 client. It looks as if it may be related to the new LN 8.5.1 client. Any information would be appreciated. thanks

Hope following info helps:

A>Known issue on following scenario, if the following steps are the issue you mentioned, please wait for V852 CD2 build to have a try, should be fixed then:

B>Basic function work in synchronize contact DB function as following:

Install&setup notes client with User A

Open local names.nsf

Open recent contact view

Right click on a document displays, select ‘move to my contact’ view

Open ‘My contact’ view(That doc displays as a contact in the view)

‘Open/Replication and sync’ to open replication page

Check ‘Synchronize Contacts’

Click on ‘Start now’ to replicate

Open User A’s mail DB on the server

Select ‘Actions/Lotus iNotes/Open Mail File Copy of Contacts’ from top menu

Switch location to another User(User B)

‘Open/Replication and Sync’ to open replication page

Check ‘Synchronize contact’ and Click ‘Start now’ to replicate

Open User B’s mail DB on the server

Select ‘Actions/Lotus iNotes/Open Mail File Copy of Contacts’ from top menu

Verify that contact DOC in local names.nsf can be synchronize to another user’s mail DB (Pass)

Set up notes client in another OS user with User A

Enable synchronize contact function in preference dialog

‘Open/Replication and Sync’ to open replication page

Check ‘Synchronize contact’ and Click ‘Start now’ to replicate

Open local names.nsf and turn to 'My contact ’ view.

Verify that the contact doc can be synchronize to local and displays in the view (Pass)
