I am having some strange issue here with a user’s address book. Some of the names he has in the book show all the contact information (address,City,Province, country) right in the default view of the address book, no preview, or anything like that. But all the recent ones he’s created won’t show more than Name and Title. Have tried replacing design, updating views nothing has worked yet. Any help would be appreciated. Currently running notes 6.5.1
Thanks

I’d suggest that the older documents were created, um, creatively, since none of that information should normally show up in the default view. The data has to have been inserted into a field that DOES show up in the view, like in the Company/Job Title fields.

Nope, all information is in the proper fields. The only two ideas I’ve come up with is they are the result of our migration from outlook, or they were in the address book before we went to notes 6. Problem is the user swears that at least one of the names isn’t old enough to have come from his outlook address book.

If the values aren’t in fields that are displayed in the view, then the values won’t be displayed in the view. It’s that simple. No amount of jiggery-pokery on migration will allow the view to behave differently. Take a look at the design of the Contacts | People view and the document properties of the documents that are displaying more than normal. You’ll see where the values are coming from.

The fields getting populated are called “buisnessAddress”,OfficeCity, OfficeState, etc. After some further testing, it seems that in fact: the “jiggery-pokery” (cute term, I’ll have to remember that one) of importing the data from a V-card does populate these fields. While simple entry of the name using notes, will not.

The fields are there for editing. Is the user reporting a problem with vCard imports in Notes?
Subject: RE: Address book oddity
No the user want’s to know why some of his contacts show all the info he wants to see and some don’t.
Subject: RE: Address book oddity
Because he hasn’t entered the data in the correct fields. It’s not rocket science. Was he perhaps expecting more from “add to contacts” than it actually does?
