Address Book Issue

Hi I have a user that if they type in the name of a person who is in their personnel address book which is stored on their personnel drive it will appear, but fails to look up the address book on the server. And the user will then have to enter the main address book on the server and select the name. Is there any way you can make the server address book first to be look up and the personnel address book second.

Thanks in Advanced

Noel

This is not an option. Look in the Location Document on the mail-tab. Perhaps you might want to choose “Exhaustivley search all address books”. In case there is a name which is similar in the personal and server address book, Lotus Notes will show you a dialogue box so the user an select the desired name.

I have found that in certain clients (7.3) you do get a choice in the location doc to choose “server, then personal”.Otherwise as other poster said - you can choose “exhaustively…”

What client are they running?

Please be aware this is a known issue with Domino addressing. The location document setting contradict each other. What I eman is this. One is for type ahead and the other is for addressing. One will over write the other. they do not work together as you would expect.

They have changed how this works in version 8 clients. I am not sure if they have added this to the most recent 7 clients. So basically local address are likely to over write type head. But when hitting F9 / Enter / or “,” the server will be dominant.

I hope this explains what is going on.
