Additional Non-Domino Mail Domain

Hi All,

We recently acquired another company and have now connected our WAN with theirs so that we can resolve all their machines and vice versa. Since then I and a few colleagues have had problems sending mail to the other company’s mail domain. They are using Exchange btw. However this problem does not affect everyone, just a few people. I have made no alterations in the Domino Directory and as far as I am aware no MX records exist on our Local DNS Server.

When the delivery failure comes back it does not give any reason for why the message has failed. Normally if it couldn’t get to the mail domain it would say “Unable to find route to domain” (or words to that effect).

Can anyone advise if there is anything I need to do in order to get Notes to direct mail internally or should it just route through SMTP in the normal way. It just seems strange that it only affects a handful of people.

Many Thanks

Rob

Subject: Additional Non-Domino Mail Domain

Hi Robert,You will need to create a foreign Domain Document

pointing to a mailbox normally called Exchange.box that will sit on your Mail server.

You will also need to install and configure the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes and configure it to look at your mail server and the Exchange.box to collect mail.

This is “temporary” co-existence tool and can severly screw up your NAB so run the NAB-GAL sync manually rather than on a schedule.

Hope this helps

cheers
