We have a server with 6 Domino Partitions. We need (want) to add another partition. Is the best way to do this to take all instances down, run the Domino Installer, install any hotfixes/patches, and then bring all instances up?
If it can be done, easily, without taking the other instances down, that would be very nice.

Subject: It should be safe to take all servers down.
You are actually talking about two things: one is adding partition.We have an option of adding just data directories to the server. However, the actual “add partition” update upgrades all existing partitions as well. That’s why it’s safer to take down the server.
The second issue is hotfix/upgrade - which is usually Domino program directory upgrade. Hotfix installer shouldn’t even start if Domino is running, and, of course , if you upgrade Domino server to a new version, you need to take down the server.
