I want to modify the Frameset “MailFS Left” so that under the tree there is an additional form. I did this with previous versions of Notes, but in 8.5 this no longer works. I’ve made modifications to the Framesets. If I view “MailFS Left” in Notes, it looks fine. If I view “MailFS” in the designer, it looks fine, but when I view it in Notes, it looks just like the standard Notes setup. That is, the tree is there and the “Follow Up” pane is below it, but my form never shows up. I’ve tried changing all kinds of settings but it always looks like the default view.
Can anyone suggest how I might go about this on 8.5, and explain why it is different from previous versions?
Subject: Maybe you need to edit “MailFS Left 6.1”
If you look at the containing frameset for “Mail FS Left”, “InteriorMailFS”, that left hand frame is chosen with a formula. Take that formula and make an action button button which displays the result. With me it evaluated to “MailFS Left 6.1”.
Subject: That seems to have changed
In previous versions, we did change MailFS Left 6.1, but that doesn’t seem to be the frameset that is now being used.
I’m starting with a new database based on the Mail8.5 template. I tried adding a second frame to both MailFS Left and MailFS Left 6.1. They show up fine in the designer, but if I try to view the changes in Notes, they don’t show up at all. I just get the new hierarchical Notes picker on the left. It doesn’t matter whether I use “Preview in Notes” or if I close everything down and restart Notes.
One thing I’ve noted is that when I try to edit the framesets in the database, I get a message telling me that the design is inherited from a different template. How can I tell it that I want it to get the design from the database, or should I be editing the template instead?
Is there some place I can see a tutorial on making this kind of change?
