Add partitioned server to non-partitioned stand-alone server

I have a box with a stand alone Domino. As I don’t have another box to use, I need to add a partitioned server to the actual configuration.

I tried using the installer, but copies the Domino directory and all the Data again, the new one and the original one.

Is there any other way to do it? Via Administrator or other tool?

If you use partitioned Domino servers, they will have the program directory in common, but have separate data directories and notes.ini. Both data directories will be complete, and will include the Domino Directory. They can be in the same domain or in separate domains.

I understand that I’ll have to create a data directories for each server, but I don’t know how to create a new server.

I mean, starting with a one-server Domino folder, with program and data, how do I make a partitioned installation?

Do I have to copy it to another folder and change the notes.ini?

Or can this be accomplished using the Domino installer?

You have to use the Domino installer to install Domino as a partitioned server. It is possible that you would have to uninstall the first server, and then reinstall as partitioned servers, but I’m not sure about this. I haven’t installed partitioned servers on Windows, only on iSeries.

You also need to create the new server in Domino Administrator, so you have a server id, and corresponding entry in the Domino Directory.

You need to look up partitioned servers in Admin help too. You have to make some decisions before you bring them both up. Should they use the sam tcp/ip address, or can you have more than one tcp/ip address on your machine?

Following what you’ve said, I need to backup my server and copy all its configuration documents and databases to the new data folder.

I’ll use fifferent IPs in the same PC.
