Hi, Installed 8.5B1 on a number of machines. Following the install the Activities sidebar is unable to connect to the Connections server? Recieve a stock message:
“couldn’t connect to the activities server. Either it is unavailable right now, or the server URL, user-name or password is incorrect”
Am sure that the details are correct and can connect from another machine. Is it possible that the Lotus Connections server is refusing the connection based on the client version?
Subject: Response
When you say you can connect from another machine, do you mean another 8.5 Beta 1 client, or a client running a prior release? Can you try multiple Beta 1 clients to see if the issue is reproducible on all of them? I have no problem connecting to an Activities server on my Beta 1 release.
Subject: Activites sidebar won’t connect from multiple machines
Hi,
Yes. The problem is reporduceable from multiple clients which is what led me to thinking that the issue might be on the activities server itself? Is their a setting that might restrict based on the version of the connecting clien; like the sametime gateway does?
Subject: potential connectivity issues
I am running the 8.5 beta 1 as well and it’s working fine for me. But there are potential connectivity issues, some might be related to the new Notes startup sequence.
Here are a couple of things to try:
if the reconnect button does not work try to modify the Activities server url by adding / removing “/activities”,
this is slightly different from pressing the reconnect button and helps in most cases
if the issue is related to a new certificate deleting the activities account might help,
go to the Account preferences and delete the account named “Activities”,
a new one will be created
another potential problem is related to upgrading the account and in some cases only a clean names.nsf file will help
Let me know if this helps.
Subject: same problem here
we encounter the same problem. some details: there where two accouns in the preferences, one with no login details. deleted both, added server url and login to activities prefs, no success.
the same credentials and url work on notes 8.0.1.
could it be the custom ssl certificate? 8.0.1 asked to add it (“cross certify”), 8.5 with a clean names.nsf hasn’t tried to download the ssl cert. there is no indication where in the process the login fails. very strange.
