Active Region of screen shifts without user awareness

Some actions within Notes cause the active section of the multi-panel screen to change unknown to the user. This can make menus change behavior and more importantly, keyboard commands that you think would work are now ignored.

Example. Possibly more complicated than necessary, but it shows the problem clearly

Using THIS database, the Notes/Domino 8.5 Forum

Go to the View by Author (flat),

Collapse all the headings

Open those you are the author for (just to make it easy)

Select these for yourself

Print the view (by going to Print: Notes Options… and hitting “Selected View”

After the print completes, go to the Edit menu and (try to) Deselect All. Notice this choice is greyed out.

This is a particular example of a broader problem that occurs in many other situations. The behavior is such that now keyboard commands that should work, no longer work because the view is not still the current focus. I see this occur where other actions cause the focus to be shifted and now the command that should work doesn’t, yet there is really no visible change to the user telling them that the focus is no longer where they thought it was.

Subject: Hi Tim

I tried to reproduce this using the steps indicated, and I’m always able to have “Deselect All” as an option after printing.

Is this an inconsistent issue, or always reproducible?

For me it is always repeatable.
