Active Directory and Domino Conflicts?

Hello,

Does any one know of any issues when installing Lotus Domino on to a windows 2003 server that is running active directory?

Our company is expanding and trying to streamline our network etc…

Our current IT manager insists that there is an Issue with installing Lotus Domino on to a Windows server that is a Active Directory controller.

For what limited reading I have done on the subject I thought that it was possible to have a Domino server running OK on a Active directory server, in fact the 2 could be integrated?

I am asking as I have to setup 4 new offices with servers and if possible would just like one server to handle the AD and Domino?

If it is one of the AD Controllers, then it will be trying to listen on port 389 for LDAP. That is a possible conflict with Domino, since Domino also wants to listen on port 389 for its built-in LDAP service. You will get an error when you try to start the Domino server, but it will still start.

It isn’t always a deal-breaker. You may be able to set up Domino to use another port for LDAP, depending on how you use LDAP in your particular environment.
