Hi there,
I have a pretty frustrating problem. As a matter of fact, I’m trying to dynamicly change the label of each of my action with subactions (meaning the top action level, otherwise the main action), depending on the language of the user (a profile document and a translation document resolves the problem of multilinguism).
It appears that :
1 - The label automatically takes the value of the first subaction, even if a label is defined for the main action
2 - My Notes environment (including Notes Client, Designer and Help tabs) often crashes when it comes with selectionning a main action (I just want to get the properties window …)
It’s becoming really frustrating to cop with such issues. Maybe I missed some hints on the subactions, but that would be a pity not to be able to define a label on main actions.
Anyone might provide me any help on this ?
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,

Subject: RE: Action with subactions : dynamic label
Hi Ranjit,
Here is my problem :
I have fulfilled the “label” part on the main action (the one that appears in th bar actions) but it automatically takes the label’s value of the first subaction. Otherwise, if I have :
Main action’s label
|_ First subaction’s label
|_ Second subaction’s label
|_ Third subaction’s label
Main action’s label will automatically takes the first action’s label value. I don’t know if it has anything to do with fact that I defined the value of the main action’s label (@GetProfileField(DocProfile;LabelValue)) of because it automatically takes the first subaction’s label value.
I could have missed some hints on action with subactions. Still, I find it very odd not to be able to use the label thing on main actions. I have also remarked that it took the picture of the first subaction, and while we can’t define a picture for the main action, it stresses the feeling I have that it automatically takes the first subaction properties.
But any lights on this would be worth it, provided you could (or anyone else) help me out !
Kind regards,

Hi Mathieu,
I have had the same problem.
In my case, the subactions was shared actions.
I found a workaround to this.
I have converted the FIRST shared action to a normal action (not shared) and now everything works. Now the label and the picture of the main action work properly.
The rest of shared actions under the main action do not need to be converted to normal actions, but you can also convert them it if you want.
HTH.
Kind regards,
Paco.
