ACLs, Roles, and Reader/Author fields

I would like to see if I am out of my mind on this or not…

My understanding of Roles in ACLs used in Readers and Authors fields is that, if the user has the Role, he/she should be able to edit this document - as long as they are in both the Authors and Readers fields… Yes? No? The user has “Author” access to the database…

One other question about ACLs… I have checked “Enforce a consistent Access Control List across all replicas” on a replica that resides on my Client at work, on the server, and on my Client at home, so each replica copy has this checked. Clients are both 6.0.3, server is 6.0.3. In the ACL, there are three IDs that I have with different Organizational Units (OU) on them. Each ACL entry is set to “Manager” with all Attributes.

Here is where I get a little confused… On the local replica at work, I can access the database with any of those 3 IDs. On the local replica at home I can only access with the ID that has the Effective Access of “Full Access Administrator.” Am I mssing something?

An author fields is a reader fields as well, so an entry in an author field let the user see the document as well.

Local replicas are usually encrypted, and that works for one user and one only. Please check if the local replica is encrypted

(database prpoerties, section “Settings” on first page)

I understand Authors and Readers fields - if a role (ex: “[Admin]”) is added to the Authors and Readers fields, the users with that role should be able to edit and read the document, right??? or no???

The databases are not encrypted.

True - if You add a role to the Authors field, then everyone with that role will be able to read and edit the document.
