ACL Replicate and Copy Documents

I have found that even though the ACL setting for “Replicate and Copy Documents” can be set at the user/group level in the ACL, users who ARE permitted to do so (ie box is checked), still can’t copy or replicate documents if those document were created by someone who CAN’T (ie, setting is UNCHECKED in the ACL for the author of the document).

It seems to me that the $KeepPrivate field, once set on the document, is not overridden by the user’s privileges, as set in the ACL.

Can anyone shine some light on this matter for me?

Basically I just want to find a way to prevent certain users from Copying the database locally and there is no easy way to do this!

Thanks!

Subject: ACL Replicate and Copy Documents

Hi,

seems to be a bug

‘Replicate or copy documents’ privilege does not work as expected Users with the replicate or copy documents privilege cannot copy documents created by a user without the privilege.

SPR #IMAO5Q6KMX Product - Client SPR# IMAO5Q6KMX - Fixed a problem which occurred when a user, whose ACL rights indicated no right to copy or replicate documents, authors a document, we were storing a $KeepPrivate item on the note. This prevents other users, even managers from copying and/or replicating these documents.

Thanks kindly for drawing the SPR to my attention.

Seems it’s only fixed in 8 with no intention of fixing it in 6 or 7.

What a jolly good screw up!
